Season 1
Season one of ‘Raising the Bar’, the new drama series on TNT began on September 1, 2008. The pilot episode introduces Public Defender, Jerry Kellerman, who has passion and strength for defending his clients. This sometimes makes him to question the judicial system. Here, he is struggling to defend an innocent man and trying to stay humble in front of a judge who is condemning his client. Meanwhile, another attorney Michelle is trying to put right a rape trial gone wrong. But District Attorney’s Office is wary of getting embarrassed by the wrong conviction. In next episode, Jerry defends a murder accused, whose eye witness is in Guatemala. Michelle, busy with a murder trial, is trying hard to remain a good lawyer in the process. Richard is also defending a man accused of assault, while Charlie runs into his ex-girlfriend in the courtroom. Later, while defending a mentally unstable client, Jerry confronts Judge Trudy. Richard’s wealthy father offers a job to Roz. Judge Kessler is continuing her quest as a political candidate.
Jerry takes a controversial case of the murder of a young boy but when press intensifies its coverage then Balco takes over as a lead prosecutor. Jerry meets Bobby’s husband and they still continue to flirt. Jerry goes for a bench trial to defend another innocent accused, as some politics is going in the background. Richard’s law student starts giving him extra attention. One of Charlie’s friends gets arrested and he pleas Jerry to handle the case. Michelle calls Jerry to take advice in Bobbi’s case. Judge Kessler plans a trip to Italy and how is it possible that she won’t ask Charlie to join. The season ends with episode “Shop Till You Drop”. Here in a case of a black firefighter accused of stealing property from a body, court finds that Judge Kessler was wrong in disallowing the testimony. Roz and Balco consider the racism as the prime reason as they prepare for a retrial. Jerry finds some secret about Bobbi’s husband, but doesn’t want to share it.
