Judge Kessler order’s Jerry to find an in-patient program for his mentally ill client causing a road block for the defense. Richard is given the job of defending a woman who, after a failed attempt to get her welfare check, gets into an altercation at the welfare office. The woman worries about who will care for her grandmother, whom relies on the defendant, if she is convicted since she faces a possible five year prison sentence.
